It was a few years back, I was still working a nine-to-five in the mental health world and I was practicing meditation during my lunch break, sitting on the edge of the woods of a public park in a small town. I had been sitting for maybe 15 of my 20-minute goal.
My eyes were open, but (finally) not focused. I had been counting breaths as my mind quieted, but had finally found some stillness.
If I remember correctly, I had a knee-length skirt on, tucked neatly around my thighs to not give off any unintended vibes. I was sitting criss-cross applesauce (the PC term for Indian style) and the back of my hands was resting on my knees, palms open to the universe.
